Uncured Intermediate Rubber | Skim Rubber

A hot vulcanizing solution for fabric conveyor belts — this uncured intermediate rubber (also called skim rubber, or tie gum) bonds the internal carcass plies of nylon, canvas, EP, and polyester belts during hot splicing. Not intended for steel cord belts. Standard size: 260mm width × 1mm thickness, 10kg per roll — custom width and thickness available.

  • Superior bonding strength for fabric-carcass belts
  • Simple, straightforward splicing operation
  • Long shelf life — 12 months (below 25°C)
  • Custom width & thickness — made to order

HUAYE-2601 is an uncured intermediate rubber — also known as skim rubber, or tie gum — engineered specifically for hot vulcanization splicing of fabric-carcass conveyor belts: nylon, canvas, EP, and polyester constructions. It is not intended for steel cord belts. Placed between belt plies at the splice joint, it cures under heat and pressure into a single, continuous bond.

Key Features

  • Superior bonding strength — forms a strong, durable joint between carcass plies
  • Stable performance — consistent results under standard hot vulcanization conditions
  • Simple, straightforward operation — no complex handling required
  • Long shelf life — 12 months when stored below 25°C
  • Made to order — custom width and thickness available

Figures above were obtained under standard laboratory conditions. Actual performance may vary depending on surface condition, curing conditions, storage, and transport. For critical applications, we recommend a small trial splice or contacting us for technical guidance before full-scale use.

Splicing Procedure

  1. Clean and sand the belt carcass surface and the uncured rubber sheet; wipe away dust and allow to air dry naturally.
  2. Brush hot vulcanizing cement evenly onto the prepared surfaces — one to two coats — and let it dry until tacky.
  3. Bond the rubber sheet starting from the center of the belt outward to both sides, rolling firmly to press out trapped air; keep the joint aligned and apply even pressure.
  4. Gradually heat the clamped joint to 150°C ± 5°C and hold at constant temperature for 45 minutes, then stop heating immediately and allow to cool naturally to room temperature.
  5. Once cooled, remove the heating plates and trim away excess rubber so the joint surface is flat, smooth, and clean.

This product must be used together with a hot vulcanizing cement, such as HUAYE-1101, for the surface treatment step above.

Handling Notes

Store in sealed, dry conditions.

Ensure good ventilation at the application site during use.

Must be used together with a hot vulcanizing cement (see HUAYE-1101) for proper surface bonding.

Shelf life is 12 months when stored below 25°C.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is uncured intermediate rubber (skim rubber)?

Uncured intermediate rubber, also called skim rubber or tie gum, is placed between the carcass plies of a fabric conveyor belt at the splice joint. It cures under heat and pressure during hot vulcanization to form a continuous bond.

Is HUAYE-2601 suitable for steel cord conveyor belts?

No. HUAYE-2601 is designed specifically for fabric-carcass belts — nylon, canvas, EP, and polyester. It is not intended for steel cord belt splicing.

Does this need to be used with a vulcanizing cement?

Yes. HUAYE-2601 must be paired with a hot vulcanizing cement, such as HUAYE-1101, for the surface treatment step before bonding.

What’s the difference between HUAYE-2601 and HUAYE Tie Gum?

They’re the same category of product — HUAYE-2601 is a specific 260mm-width variant sized for fabric-belt splicing jobs. Custom width and thickness are available on request for either.

How should HUAYE-2601 be stored?

Store in sealed, dry conditions below 25°C. Shelf life is 12 months under these conditions.
