How to Choose the Right Repair System

The right product depends on three factors: your belt type, the nature of the damage, and how quickly you need the belt back in operation.

For rip and large-area damage on EP, NN, or steel cord belts where fast return to operation is critical — HUAYE-1201 hot-melt adhesive or HUAYE-301 cold-bonding compound are the primary options. HUAYE-1201 requires a heat source (electric pot) but needs no mixing; HUAYE-301 requires manual mixing but works without any heating equipment.

For surface cuts and scratches across multiple points — HUAYE-3201 gun-applied compound allows a single technician to cover multiple repair areas quickly, with consistent dispensing from the applicator gun.

For belt joint bonding on canvas or nylon fabric-core belts in coal mine environments — HUAYE-818 is the correct choice, meeting the flame-retardant and explosion-proof requirements for underground coal mine operations.

For discharge zones and high-wear impact areas where standard repair compounds fail within weeks — HZ-801 wear armor coating provides 6× the wear resistance of standard belt rubber, extending the repair interval significantly.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between cold-bonding and cold vulcanizing adhesive?

Cold-bonding adhesives (HUAYE-301, HUAYE-818) cure through a chemical reaction between components at room temperature — they bond and flex with the belt rubber. Cold vulcanizing compounds (HUAYE-3201) use a similar chemistry but are formulated to replicate the properties of vulcanized rubber more closely, achieving a Shore A hardness comparable to the original belt cover. For most surface repair applications, either type is suitable — the choice depends on application method preference and belt type.

Which product is fastest for emergency rip repair?

HUAYE-1201 hot-melt granule adhesive offers the fastest return to light load operation — minutes after application at ambient temperature, with full load resuming in 1–2 hours. HZ-801 also returns to light load in 15 minutes but is designed for wear protection rather than rip repair. For rip repair without a heat source, HUAYE-301 returns to light load in 2 hours.

Can these products be used on steel cord belts?

HUAYE-301 and HUAYE-1201 are both compatible with steel cord rubber belts for surface repair. HUAYE-818 is designed for canvas and nylon fabric-core belts and is not recommended for steel cord applications. HUAYE-3201 is suitable for fabric-core belts including EP and NN. HZ-801 bonds to rubber substrates including steel cord belt covers.

Which product is suitable for coal mine environments?

HUAYE-818 is specifically formulated and tested for coal mine fire- and explosion-proof environments — it is self-extinguishing once removed from a flame source. HZ-801 also meets flame-retardant requirements. For operations requiring MT/T certified products, contact us to confirm which products meet your specific certification requirements.

Do I need specialist equipment to apply these products?

Most products require no specialist equipment. HUAYE-301, HUAYE-818, and HZ-801 require only basic hand tools (scraper, brush, grinder). HUAYE-3201 requires a standard applicator gun. HUAYE-1201 requires an electric cooking pot for melting — induction cookers are not compatible; a standard electric pot is used. None of the products require a vulcanizing press or hot plate.
